DIY treble and bass clef slippers (with vinyl)

Hello Fischarper readers! I hope you’re in the mood for yet another slipper diy! 😀 (Plus another giveaway.)

This post may contain affiliate links, banners, &/or embeds. If you make a purchase through one of these links, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you (more info here). I try to mark most in-text links with an asterisk. Thank you for your support!

Today’s version uses a cutting machine and vinyl, but you could also use pre-made stickers. I thought treble clef on the right foot and bass clef on the left foot could be handy (or footy?) to help students remember that treble clef is usually played by the right hand and bass clef is usually played by the right hand.

Supplies

  • slippers (I used women’s…here are the men’s. This style would probably work as well for this [men’s here])
  • tape measure or ruler
  • vinyl
  • transfer tape (similar here)
  • cutting machine, weeding tool, and burnisher (for the weeding tool and burnisher, I used hardware store-type items rather than a crafty brand)
  • scissors
  • treble and bass clef images (below)

How To

Watch the video below and/or see the written directions below.

Measure the top of the slipper. Save the image with the treble and bass clef (above), import it into your cutting machine program, and cut out in the correct size on your cutting machine (you don’t need to cut out the Fischarper logo 😀). Weed them, and then burnish the transfer tape onto the shapes, front and back.

Peel the backing off, making sure the shape sticks to the transfer tape. Place one at a time on each slipper and remove the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl on the slipper (you might need to “help” the vinyl stick a little).

Some of the vinyl has bubbled (probably from where the foot creases the shoe) a little and come up on the pair I decorated. You could try gluing it backdown if it comes up, or you might even try sealing the whole top part of the shoe with something like Mod Podge.

So there you have a pretty quick and easy way to spice up your MySlippers! You could cut out other shapes too like notes or instruments. How would you decorate them?
