DIY Saxophone Keypad Notecard

Happy Friday! Today we have another saxophone keypad project!

You can use upcycled or new saxophone keypads for this. I used new, because some were given to me, but you know I love a good upcycle! (Yes, I realize that used keypads might be gross, but whatever. đŸ˜€)

This flower saxophone keypad notecard was inspired at least in part by this.

SUPPLIES:

  • blank notecard
  • keypads (the number & size of your choice) – check with your local musical instrument repair shop
  • 2 felt tip pens (or you could use markers, colored pencils, paint…it’s up to you!)
  • glue

Step 1:

Lay out your keypads on the front of your notecard to get an idea of how you want them. The keypads will be the centers of the flowers.

Step 2:

Draw some stems. Use the keypads as a guide.

You can add some grass & ground too, if you want. I added leaves here, but you might want to add the leaves after the petals.

Step 3:

Move a keypad & doodle some flower petals.

Step 4:

Set the keypad on top of your doodled petals to see how they go together.

Step 5:

Adjust the petals as necessary. I think I made them a little bigger & added some extra lines (this helps if you had to resize them).

Step 6:

Keep going with the petals. I made the larger flower petals more filled in & the smaller flower petals more open.

Step 7:

Add glue to the back of a keypad & place it where you want it. Try not to use too much glue, to help keep the card from getting wrinkly.

Once it’s dry, you’ve got a cute & unique 3D card to send! You could also use this as art.

If you make this, please send me a picture at fischarper.com/contact! I’d love to see how it turned out!
